Bir çeşit sert kauçuk olan ebonitten, ayrıca metalden yapılanları da vardır. Klarnet, çeviklik bakımından flüte çok yakındır. Her çeşit hızlı, parlak, gösterişli pasajlar, diziler, arpejler, grupetto ve benzeri figürler, tril ve tremololar rahatlıkla çalınabilir. Klarnetin gövdesi silindir biçimindedir. Kalak bölümü ise obuanın kalağına oranla daha geniştir. Dikkatlice yontulup biçimlendirilen bu kamış parçası, ağızlık üzerine takılır. Çalıcının nefesi ile titreşime geçirilen kamış, boru içindeki havayı titreşime geçirerek ses elde edilmesini sağlar. Çalıcının sol eli yukarıda, sağ eli ise aşağıda olmak üzere az bir eğimle yere doğru tutulur Fox CL100-G Sol klarnet, fiyatına göre ideal bir klarnet olup, gerek dizaynı, gerek entonasyonu ile muadillerinden bir adım öndedir. Öğrenci seviyesinin üstünde bir klarnettir.
